Novotel Plovdiv host’s presentation of “EURO” 2008 took place during the ECU Assembly. Nikolay Velchev, executive director of the Bulgarian Chess Federation, and Director of the European Individual Championships welcomed the delegates on behalf of Novotel Plovdiv and Bulgarian Chess Federation. In his speech, he invited all European chess federations to send their representatives on the 9-th Individual Championships and to be welcomed in Plovdiv.
Dr. Stefan Sergiev, president of the Bulgarian Chess Federation, gave reception and cocktail party for the delegates on behalf of Novotel Plovdiv and Bulgarian Chess Federation. All the present received the special brochures for “EURO” 2008 in English that contain full information about the event, invitation, conditions, tournament schedule, and advertising CD about Novotel Plovdiv. The brochure informed about the conditions that other two hotels (Maritza and Royal) offer, as much as interesting historical and cultural information about the city of Plovdiv. Dr. Stefan Sergiev and Nikolay Velchev answered to many questions concerning the organization and conditions about the championships.

In the venue a special spot was created, where the logo of Novotel Plovdiv as well as advertising materials and brochures concerning “EURO” 2008 were supplied. The spot was specially chosen in front of the national flag of Bulgaria-one of the forties flags of the countries that participated in European Team Championships. With the permission of the chief arbiter, 350 brochures in total were left on the playing tables-one copy for every player.

All interested players received additional information about the conditions that the hosts offer, about the visa and transport regulations, about Plovdiv and Bulgaria in general. At the same time, brochures were left in the press-center, analyzing rooms and other places. The interest concerning the main European chess event for 2008, 9-th Individual Chess Championships was extremely high. This interest was emphasized by the fact that Novotel Plovdiv was many times excellent host of various chess events, including the European Team Championships in 1983 and European Team Championships for men and women in 2003. All these events were held on exceptional organization level and perfect conditions.
